Shaken, not stirred! The Aston Martin DB 5

Answering my question for your favourites, my friend Ramin from Palo Alto send me a picture of what is probably the epithome of gentleman racing:
The Aston Martin DB 5.
This British version of the classic gran turismo, with his 4 litre, 6 cylinder, 286 hp engine, 9 seconds to 100 km/h, and a top speed of 223 km/h, is fast enough to speed from A to B, and powerful enough to really, really enjoy every bit of it.
But, at the same time, with luxurious features like a heated rear window, or electrically powered windows, it is also amienable enough to be accompanied on your journey by a beautiful woman, and its aluminium body is large enough for some en route pique-nique necessities, the obligatory bubbly, an overnight bag, and maybe even a small something to wear for her to the casino in Monte Carlo, later on tonight. Or something like that;)
Adding machine guns to the bumpers, revolving number plates, a homing device, an ejectable passenger seat, wheel scythe, and a bullet proof glass and steel shield, makes up a decidedly un-standard package of options, but proved to be very valuable for one secret agent with a license to kill.
And very valuable for David Brown’s (the owner of Aston Martin from 1947 to 1972, and the reason for DB) Aston Martin Company as well, as sales were soaring by some 50 %, following its star appearance with Sean Connery in the 1964 James Bond hit movie “Goldfinger”, and returning the following year in “Thunderball”.
That made it an absolute icon of the 60s. Even though the DB5 and the even stronger DB 5 Vantage models (330 hp) were only built from 1963 to 1965. And with 18 cars being hand-built in its best weeks, a mere 1.023 (some sources say 1.021 – as I have not counted them myself, I don’t know, what is correct;) cars left the factory in Feltham.
Now, that the question regarding the best James Bond car ever is answered (or is it rather the Lotus Esprit?), here is the really interesting one:
Who in your opinion is the best James Bond ever? ;) |

Hmmm... Not my type of car. Although it looks "nice" I am more into the present rather than the past. This car is really 'retro'. I use 'retro' more in a negative way here ('old stylish'?). Sorry. On the other side: Retro or not... those cars are too expensive for me anyway :)

Hi testant ... I got some other people too, who sent me their favourite cars, and they were much younger ... the cars, I mean;)
I just did not find the time yet to write down their specs ... so stay tuned for "non retro cars" to come;))
and, by the way, favourite, crazy, funniest or whatever does not neccessarily mean expensive!
for instance, take the 2CV ... probably the car with the easiest to use pique nique bench on board ... and enough appeal to not stay alone for long, but get started ... with pique nique;)
