Tiefschwarz die Nacht
und blutrot mein Verlangen.
So eisern hielt ich einst die Wacht;
wie hat es angefangen?

Kein Dieb war es zu später Stunde,
der das Geflecht so jäh zerbiss,
nur jener unerhörte Riss
auf ungewohntem Grunde.

Warum so blind, so taub, so stur,
leugne ich seine Kraft,
wenn er so leicht es schafft,

dass ich der Laune der Natur
mich lüstern nur ergebe
und meine wüsten Träume lebe?
